Contained Living at the Fall Home Show

2018.10.16

Signature Electric had the pleasure of collaborating with some phenomenal partners for the Toronto Fall Home Show 2018. The wonderful people at Contained Living set up a complete home consisting of two attached shipping containers, an electric car charger with a Tesla Powerwall, and a gazebo with a solar power roof.

Kathy Ratchford of Contained Living took us on a full walk-through of the shipping container living space. Watch the full video here:

Contained Living offers an amazing opportunity for anyone looking for a sustainable, affordable, and customizable residential space. With wall-tight insulation and radiant floor heating, these shipping containers can fit almost anywhere, making them truly modular. Large windows, renewable electricity, beautiful designer interior, and reclaimed wooden cladding on the exterior, all add up to a luxurious living arrangement.

“There’s probably about 50-to-100 million of these shipping containers around the world, either abandoned or retired… I thought why not use them as houses? They are sustainable. There’s no reason to believe that these things won’t last forever.”

The Toronto Fall Home Show was also the inauguration of our new Wi-Fi enabled Signature Electric EV Charger, plugged into our Tesla Model S.

With developments like this the future is looking bright for housing. Make sure you check out Contained Living and start planning for your modular home today.
